What does life time even mean? I find this word always comes with a catch.

What does life time even mean? I find this word always comes with a catch. A lifetime warranty is supposed to cover any damage to an appliance but of course, there is a caveat and hoops to jump through to cash that in. Our lifetime varies from each individual, as we are not guaranteed a certain amount of days but hope we are one of the lucky ones. My friend Danielle, mother of three, wife, and pillar of her community, faces that reality right now. If her transplant doctors don't find her a liver in the next two years, her survival chances are zero. What would you do to help a friend whose life is in danger of expiring? We know there is strength in numbers, which is why I am reaching out to all of you.

I met Danielle 11 years ago, her boyfriend at the time was a longtime friend of my husband. We had kids of similar ages, we were in similar circumstances in life, and befriending her was easy.

We excitedly planned our weddings around the same time and even had babies within months of each other. In 2014 I helped Danielle and Barry purchase their first home together. What an exciting time! It was in a perfect location and with the upgrades they made became the right home to raise their family. I’ve seen her and Barry throughout the years at local festivals and we have kept in touch online as we both have made our way through life.

Last week I found out Danielle has been battling serious health issues. She is now in need of a liver transplant and possibly a kidney later down the road. Her chances of survival without a liver transplant are minimal. It is essential she finds a living donor. I am not a match. What started as pancreatitis has spiraled into constant internal bleeding resulting in many cauterizations and transfusions without a solution. Her daily life consists of several medical conditions including but not limited to, regular surgeries, removal of 6+ liters of fluid from the abdomen weekly, daily catheters, hernias, extreme fluid retention of the lower body, hair loss, liver, and kidney failure.

Regular hospital visits now consist of keeping her kidneys out of failure and sending her home with medication to keep her comfortable in the interim. Her best chance of survival is to find a living donor between the ages of 18-60 yrs old with blood type O. She is currently undergoing evaluation to ensure she is a candidate for a transplant.

There is much we can do to support this family. First I am asking that you share her story. Social media is a network with a wide reach. The more we share on her behalf, the better chances we have in finding a donor. Second, if you are inclined there is a place to donate meals. We all know that feeding a family is a challenge on a regular day. Taking on that small task makes a big difference for her. This story can easily be replaced with one of our family members. While you may think this strange to be posted in a real estate blog-it feels relevant. Real estate is about connection, community, and the people. Selling houses is one small aspect of what I do. Please consider offering this family support in any way you can. I will be forever grateful for your efforts in helping me spread the word with hopes of finding a donor and giving Danielle a fighting chance to extend her life.
